Project "32/18" is located in the historic 1925 Ishmaeloff Hotel at the corner of 18 Yavne Street and 32 Montefiore Street in Tel Aviv, originally designed by architect Yehuda Magidovitch as a hotel with a commercial floor and hospitality floors. The project offers an architectural and community response for a target population of youth up to age 25 who have experienced family and community disconnection against the backdrop of their sexual orientation, providing them with a supportive framework that includes a temporary roof and a protected space for recovery alongside a comprehensive rehabilitation process, emotional, social, and economic.
Architecturally, the building is characterized by a clear and functional separation between public areas open to the general public (a bar-restaurant, an urban courtyard, and workspace and workshop areas), the community areas of the residents (a lounge, kitchen, and social and psychological therapy rooms), and private residential areas that are physically separated with a separate entrance.
This separation allows residents to manage "selective visibility," choosing when to be exposed and when to return to absolute privacy and security.
